To be able to do the really fun things on the blog, you’ll need to make a WordPress account! Here’s a step-by-step.
1. Go to WordPress.com and choose “Sign Up Now,” the big orange button.
2. Fill out the fields. Choose “Just a username, please” unless you want a blog of your own. Which would be awesome.
3. Click “Next.”
4. You’ll be taken to a page that lets you change a couple things. I find it easier to do it all at once, so I recommend that you just close that page and check your email. You’ll have an email from donotreply@wordpress.com with a link in it. Just click the link and that’ll activate your account! It will also take you back to wordpress.com, and show you your login name and password.
5. Log in using your new username and password at the top of the page. This little gray bar is your control panel for when you’re using WordPress. We’ll be using it later to tweak things. If you use the same computer, you can also click “Remember Me” next to your login information. That will save your password and keep you logged in.
Once you’re logged in, you now have a WordPress account! Well done! As a reward, have a kitten.
